Second Sunrise Rescue is a Christian-based, foster-based dog rescue in Socorro, Texas, serving El Paso County and surrounding communities. We help abandoned, neglected, abused, and at-risk dogs receive the care they need and the opportunity to become part of a loving family.
Some dogs need medical treatment to recover from illness or injury. Others need time, patience, and kindness to feel safe and trust people again. We work to give each dog compassionate care, a safe place to heal, and the chance for a better life.
Our Mission
Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need by providing compassionate care, veterinary support, and safe foster homes. Through responsible adoption and community involvement, we help dogs find loving families and the new beginnings they deserve.
Our Founder and Community
Violet Roberts, a military spouse with a heart for helping dogs in need, along with her husband Isaac, founded Second Sunrise Rescue. Our rescue brings together foster families, volunteers, adopters, and supporters who believe that compassion means taking action.
Many of our volunteers and foster families are members of the military community. By giving their time and opening their homes, they help provide dogs with safety, care, and love while they wait for adoptive families. We are grateful for the military families and local supporters who make this work possible.
Our Christian faith guides our commitment to kindness, service, and responsible stewardship. We welcome people from all backgrounds who share our desire to help dogs in need.
Open Your Home: Become a Foster
We need more foster families.
As a foster-based rescue, we depend on people willing to provide temporary homes for dogs awaiting adoption. A foster home gives a dog a place to rest, recover, learn household routines, and experience the comfort of being cared for.
You do not have to be ready to adopt permanently to make a meaningful difference. Fostering allows you to help a dog during an important part of their journey while helping our rescue make room for another dog in need.

Help Us Continue: Donate or Sponsor
We also need ongoing monetary and supply donations to support the dogs in our care.
Financial contributions help with veterinary treatment, vaccinations, spaying and neutering, food, transportation, and safe housing. Supply donations such as dog and puppy food, sturdy crates and kennels, bedding, leashes, and cleaning supplies help meet everyday needs.
A one-time gift, recurring monthly donation, or sponsorship of a dog’s care can help us continue this work. Supporters who would like to contribute toward a particular need can contact us about designating their donation for medical care, food, transportation, or safe housing.
